About Joanna Wolfarth
This isn’t my first time grappling with a big idea, or helping others shape theirs.
I’m a writer, researcher, and experienced mentor with a background in both academia and publishing. Over the years, I’ve worked with dozens of undergraduate and postgraduate students to help them clarify their research ideas and develop them into cogent essays and dissertations. I’ve also worked on massive funding applications, so know how to write clear, and persuasive copy.
I’m currently working on my second and third non-fiction book proposals.
In 2019, I drafted my first nonfiction book proposal, which led to offers of representation from four agents. With the expert input of Jo Unwin (my agent at the time) and a sharp-eyed editor, I refined that first pitch into what became MILK, a book that went on to sell to a publisher in a five-way auction.
Since then, I’ve continued to secure funding and editorial support for my work, including from the Society of Authors, a Developing Your Creative Practice grant from Arts Council England, and more.
But my proposal-writing experience started long before all that. In 2009, I wrote a PhD research proposal that won me full Arts and Humanities Research Council funding. I’ve since helped craft and support major grant applications, academic research proposals, and dozens of student dissertations. All with a focus on clear, purposeful writing.
All this is to say: I know what it takes to shape a bunch of tangled idea into something convincing, compelling, and ready to share.
If you’ve got questions, or you’re curious whether the bootcamp is right for you, just get in touch. I’d love to hear from you.
